Janine Delardo Schroeder, Psy.D.

Dr. Schroeder has always known that she wanted to work in the mental health field. She attended James Madison University, completing her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology (2001) and her Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Services (2003). She then recevied her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Chestnut Hill College (2007).
For the past 15 years, Dr. Schroeder has mainly worked in the outpatient setting, conducting individual, family, and couples counseling with people ages 16 and older. She has prior experience serving patients in an inpatient psychiatric facility, and with intensive outpatient group psychotherapy.
Dr. Schroeder's specialty and passion is working with people that have been through traumatic experiences, including childhood abuse, abusive relationships, tragic and sudden events, and loss of loved ones. Grief conseling is an important aspect of her treatment. She also works with helping others to cope with issues such as depression and anxiety.
Her treatments focus on coping with current stressors in one's life, and past emotional injuries from which people need to heal. Working on communicating with others more effectively in order to get one's own needs met and avoid problematic and painful relationships is also an important strategy that Dr. Schroeder uses to help those with whom she works.

Dr. Schroeder has a passion for helping others live emotionally well and have healthy, long-lasting, and meaningful relationships with others. Her theoretical orientation is eclectic, using psychodynamic, interpersonal, solution-focused, and cognitive strategies when appropriate. Dr. Schroeder also believes heavily in integrating spirituality with psychology and where appropriate uses principles of Christianity in her practice with patients.
When not working with patients, Dr. Schroeder enjoys advancing wellness education to others through didactic seminars and workshops on topics related to relationships, mental health, communication, assertiveness, and stress management.
In her time outside of the office she is called 'Mom' to her two school aged children. Janine and her husband and children live in the Columbus, OH area, and enjoy playing family games, traveling, and participating in their church. Her family loves Golden Retrievers and are looking forward to adding another!
